Presentation of Cheque from Scoil Ruáin Strictly Come Dancing to “Coisceim” ASD Unit

On Friday 7th April a cheque for €39,222 was handed over from the Strictly Come Dancing organising committee to Gerry McGill, Principal, and Siobhan Landers, Deputy Principal of Scoil Ruáin. This was the total amount raised from their Strictly Come Dancing fundraiser which was held in The Dome, Thurles on 25th March. They both accepted the cheque on behalf of Coisceim, ASD Unit at Scoil Ruáin.

Gerry spoke of how grateful the school is of the major contribution that this money will make to purchase vital equipment for Coisceim once the building work is completed. He highlighted the impact this contribution will make, not only to the lives of the children currently enrolled in Coisceim, but also to those children who will attend in the many years to come. He thanked the dancers for connecting and reconnecting with so many businesses, organisations and people over the past few months. It is not only the money that will make a difference but it is the relationships that have been established that will equally have a big impact on the school as the focal point of the local area. This shows what Scoil Ruáin really means to people of Killenaule and surrounding areas. He also acknowledged the organising committee and thanked them for their hard work, dedication and the commitment they gave over the past 12 weeks. Scoil Ruáin will forever be indebted to everyone involved in this phenomenal fundraising event.
